- Friday, September 26 – Fall Carnival from 4:30–6:00 p.m. Families are invited for games, prizes, and candy! Kona Ice will also be available for purchase.

St. Vrain Valley Schools invites families to attend Band Night on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6:00 p.m. at Everly-Montgomery Field in Longmont. The evening will feature performances from high school bands across the district, concluding with a drone show presented by the St. Vrain Student Performance Drone Team. This event is a great opportunity to bring students and the community together in support of local feeder high schools.
Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children age six and under. Eighth grade students will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
STEM Accelerator is starting soon for our middle schoolers! Want some additional support in math while also getting the opportunity to do STEM/design challenges? Our FREE program runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:35-5:05 PM starting on September 16. Please see the registration flyer for more information and bring the completed registration to the front office or Mr. Elwood to participate.

Our school health office is in need of children’s underwear, shorts, and pants in sizes 6T–10T. These items are essential to help students who need a quick change during the school day.
If you’re able to donate, please drop items off at the school office.

Parents/guardians shall be required to furnish an explanation for student absenteeism either in writing or orally. Absences not explained within two days after returning to school shall be recorded as unexcused absences unless unusual or extenuating circumstances exist as determined by the building administrator. After 10 excused or unexcused absences, a doctors note is required. Communication is key to successful attendance. Preschool Information- SPARK! Discovery Preschool
SVVSD preschool in Carbon Valley: All preschool-aged children in the Frederick feeder system have the opportunity to attend Spark! Discovery Preschool, a vibrant early learning center located at 555 8th Street in Frederick, next door to Thunder Valley K-8. Serving over 300 children from Firestone, Frederick, and Dacono, we are proud to support families throughout the Carbon Valley community.
A Strong Start with STEM-Focused Early Learning: Spark! Discovery Preschool offers a comprehensive, play-based early learning program with a unique emphasis on STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Our goal is to spark curiosity and build a strong foundation for future academic success, especially as children prepare for kindergarten.
Program Highlights
- Creative Curriculum: A research-based, standards-aligned curriculum that promotes learning through play and discovery.
- STEM Integration: Children are introduced to real-world STEM concepts using hands-on experiences, design thinking, and problem-solving strategies such as the scientific method and observation.
- Colorado Academic Standards: Our instruction aligns with state standards across all developmental and academic domains.
- Teaching Strategies GOLD: Progress is observed and documented in areas such as social-emotional, motor, cognitive, and language development, as well as literacy, math, science, and the arts.
- Language & Literacy Support: We use Fundations and Heggerty Phonological & Phonemic Awareness programs to support foundational literacy skills, in alignment with our elementary schools.
- PATHS® Curriculum: A proven program that promotes emotional , behavioral, and social competence while reducing behavioral challenges.
Whole-Child Focus: In addition to academics, we emphasize:
- Gross-motor and movement activities to support physical development and brain development.
- Family engagement and resources to help parents support learning, development, and growth at home
- Inclusive services for children with special needs, in collaboration with our SVVSD Child Find team
- Social/Emotional learning: Social and emotional learning is an integral part of education and human development focused on instruction that helps children to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.
Flexible Program Options: We offer a variety of schedules to meet your family’s needs:
- Tuition-Based Program for 3-year-olds (turning three by October 1 of the year they are to attend)
- Universal Preschool for eligible 4-year-olds (turning four by October 1 of the year they are to attend)
- Special Education Services for eligible children ages 3–5

- AM Preschool: 8:30–11:10 a.m. (Mon–Fri)
- PM Preschool: 12:25–3:05 p.m. (Mon–Fri)
- Full-Day Preschool: 8:30 a.m.–3:05 p.m. (Mon–Fri)
