Happy Friday Raptor Families,

Our students wrapped up CMAS testing this week, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and focus. They’ve shown great effort in demonstrating their learning and growth. Thank you for your continued support at home, it truly makes a difference! We’ll be finishing up make-up testing next week.

On Monday, April 21st, we have a Track Meet at TVK8 after school. On Wednesday, April 23rd, there is a PTA meeting in the library starting at 4:30pm. On Wednesday, April 23rd there is an away soccer game at Twin Peaks. On Thursday, April 24th, the 7th and 8th grade district track meet is at Longmont High School.

Thunder Valley is hosting Project Launch in June. It is an extended learning opportunity for our students. If you are interested in having your student attend, please see the attached information below.

Thunder Valley K-8 Parents/Guardians:

If your student is enrolled at Thunder Valley and WILL BE MOVING/CHANGING SCHOOLS for the 2025-2026 school year, please take a moment to complete this form so that our registrar can prepare your student’s records to be sent to their new school in a timely manner. If you have more than one student enrolled and are moving/changing schools, please complete the form for each student.

You ONLY need to complete this form if your student is MOVING OR CHANGING SCHOOLS. If you are staying at Thunder Valley, there is no need to fill this out.

5th to 6th Grade Transition Night – Join Us! 

Attention 5th Grade Families! We are excited to invite you to our 5th to 6th Grade Transition Night on Tuesday, April 29th from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

This special event is designed to help students and parents feel prepared and confident about the exciting move to middle school. You’ll have the opportunity to:

 -Learn about class schedules and expectations
– See the 6th grade classrooms 
 -Discover extracurricular activities and clubs
 -Get answers to all your questions!

Help Our STEM Classroom!

Our STEM class is gearing up for exciting hands-on projects, and we need your help! We’re looking for donations of various materials that students can use to build, create, and experiment. Some of the items we could use include:

– Cereal boxes 
– Paper towel and toilet paper rolls
– Plastic cups and straws
– Toothpicks
– Craft sticks
– Egg cartons
– String, yarn, or rubber bands

These materials will help our students bring their designs to life as they learn about engineering, problem-solving, and creativity. If you have any of these items, please send them in with your child or drop them off at the office.

Thunder Valley K 8 will not be ordering many extra books and those few books will be sold first come, first served in the sequence of date/time purchased. Join us for an engaging AI Open House, where parents, students, and community members can experience firsthand how Artificial Intelligence is transforming education. As part of St. Vrain’s Parent University, this interactive event will take place on Tuesday, April 22 from 5:00–6:30 p.m. at the Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools. Explore student- and instructor-led AI stations, participate in hands-on activities, and see real-world applications of AI in St. Vrain classrooms.

St. Vrain’s Unframed Art Show live at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall from April 15-20. Please join us at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall from April 15-20 for the public viewing of artworks from all grade levels and schools across the St. Vrain Valley. Different mediums will be featured including ceramics, digital art/photography, drawing, jewelry making, metalwork, mixed media, painting, and printmaking.

Parents/guardians shall be required to furnish an explanation for student absenteeism either in writing or orally. Absences not explained within two days after returning to school shall be recorded as unexcused absences unless unusual or extenuating circumstances exist as determined by the building administrator. After 10 excused or unexcused absences, a doctors note is required. Communication is key to successful attendance. Please join us at the Innovation Center on Tuesday, May 6 for our annual STEM Night!  We’ll have STEM activities, a Make and Take section, and content specific STEM events in each of our focus areas, which include:  Artificial Intelligence, Aerospace, Biosciences, Cybersecurity, Digital & Virtual Design, Entrepreneurship, Robotics, and Video Production.  In addition, we’ll have larger outdoor STEM opportunities, the Student Design Guild, and Cardboard Carnival Games!  Come to play from 4:30-6:30.  Want to be a part of the Student Design Guild and / or the Carnival Games?
