Thunder Valley Moving Notice

Parents/Guardians:

If your student/s are enrolled at Thunder Valley K-8 for the 2023-24 school year AND they are going to attend Thunder Valley K-8, you do NOT need to complete this form.

If your student/s are enrolled AND YOUR STUDENT/S IS MOVING/CHANGING SCHOOLS for the 2024-25 school year, please take one minute to complete this form so Mrs. Sites, Thunder Valley K-8 Registrar, can prepare your student/s’ school records and have them sent to your student/s’ new school in a timely fashion. Please complete the form for each student.

Calling All 5th Graders!

Middle School Step-Up provides incoming 6th graders the opportunity to advance and celebrate the transition to middle school through building relationships and community, creating comforts and connections, and developing familiarity with the school and environment while providing exposure to typical academic routines. Lunch will be provided. Transportation is available if needed.

SketchUp Project Spectrum – Neurodiverse Outreach Program – May Opportunity

Students will have the opportunity to learn 3D modeling skills.

Health Sector Info Sessions for Teens – Flyer

These interactive sessions provide an opportunity for students to discover information about healthcare pathways, occupations and training.

Mobility for All Workshop Series – Flyer & RSVP

For the next seven months and starting in April of 2024, Mobility for All will be hosting a series of seven workshops at the Longmont Center for People with Disabilities (CPWD, 615 N Main St, Longmont, CO 80501). These seven workshops will highlight five popular transportation apps (Google Maps, TransitApp, RTD MyRide, Uber, and Lyft) and afterward two important, accessible transportation programs—RTD Access-a-Ride and RTD Access-on-Demand. The events will include a presentation about the app, an opportunity for Q&A, and one-on-one support. Lunch will be provided.

Innovation Center – Opportunity Climb

The Opportunity CLIMB program is hosting a summer program at the Innovation Center in June for SVVSD students who will be in high school next year. It will include the opportunity to explore certifications in AWS, Salesforce, and Cisco through field trips, career exploration, mentors, and time with professionals in the IT industry.

Kids Carving Competition

Young artists have the opportunity to unleash their imagination and showcase their talent through the Frederick Kids Carving Competition during Chainsaws & Chuckwagons! Just like our renowned chainsaw carvers, young artists will have 4 days to create a masterpiece clay carving/sculpture. Participants will be provided with raw clay, tools, and necessary supplies to sculpt, shape, and refine their creation into masterpieces that capture the essence of their imagination. This competition is open to a total of ten youth between the ages of 8 and 13. Each competitor will be allowed the assistance of one parent or guardian for the duration of the competition. Competitors will have until 4 pm on Saturday, July 20 to complete their masterpiece, where the public will vote for their favorite carving. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place.

Happy Birthday

Celebrate your child’s birthday by joining the Birthday Book Club and donating a book to the school library in their name! Each child who participates will have their name inscribed on a bookplate on the front endpaper of the donated book. We will take a picture of the birthday child holding their donated book and they will get the first chance to check it out. 


Registration Open for Elementary Project Launch

Academic proficiency is an important district goal for elementary students. Research shows that extended school-year learning opportunities positively impact student success.

Project Launch Program Includes:

  • Targeted literacy practice daily
  • Content literacy in science and social studies
  • Focused math study and exploration
  • Transportation is provided for those who qualify from predetermined bus stops
  • Breakfast and lunch provided
  • Exiting Kindergarten – 4th Grade Students
  • Available at no cost to families

Attendance all 16 days is critical

We will close individual grade levels when full.

Space is limited! To register, please contact your school or teacher for a registration form, and return your completed form to either your child’s teacher, or the school office. There is no online registration format. You will be notified if your child is placed on a waitlist for this program.

St. Vrain’s Transportation Department is dedicated to consistently delivering excellent service for our students and their families and we are currently preparing for the upcoming school year. If you are interested in having your child ride the bus for the 2024-2025 school year, please apply for transportation services as soon as possible. St. Vrain’s Transportation Department makes every effort to accommodate as many eligible riders as possible. Apply for transportation services online.

Community Schools K-5 Registration for 2024-2025

Community Schools offers dynamic extended learning day opportunities for children in grades K-5. Students are provided with a nurturing environment before- and after-school that fosters academic achievement, community, social-emotional growth, and creativity. Availability is limited and interested families are encouraged to register early and select their anticipated days of care immediately.

Parents/guardians shall be required to furnish an explanation for student absenteeism either in writing or orally. Absences not explained within two days after returning to school shall be recorded as unexcused absences unless unusual or extenuating circumstances exist as determined by the building administrator. After 10 excused or unexcused absences, a doctor’s note is required. Communication is key to successful attendance.
