Happy Friday Raptor Families,
Our students finished up CMAS testing this week. We are so proud of our students and how hard they have worked to show their learning and growth during testing. Thank you for supporting your student. Make-up testing will finish next week. As a reminder, there is no school on April 26th next week.
We have several events this week. 7th and 8th grade track athletes have a meet at Thunder Valley on Monday, April 22nd after school. In addition, the district track meet for 7th and 8th grade students is on Thursday, April 25th, at Longmont High School. On Tuesday, we host Coal Ridge Middle School for a home soccer game after school. On Wednesday, April 24th, we have a Band and Jazz Band concert in our auditorium starting at 6:00 pm.
2024 Proposed Bond Initiative:
At the recent PTA meeting, we discussed the 2024 Proposed Bond Initiative that will be on the ballot this November. This initiative aims to support the growing Tri town community and enhance our schools while maintaining the current tax rate. St. Vrain’s Unframed Art Show
Please join us at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall from April 16-21 for the public viewing of artworks from all grade levels and schools across the St. Vrain Valley.
The event is free and open to the public:
- Public Viewing: Tuesday, April 16 through Saturday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
- Artists’ Night Open House: Thursday, April 18 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.
Different mediums will be featured including ceramics, digital art/photography, drawing, jewelry making, metalwork, mixed

Attention 100 Mile Club Parents
We will be moving practices outside to the track starting April 22nd!!!! Our last practice is coming up May 9th! Try to push yourselves to get as many miles as you can between now and then.
We will do an end of the year celebration for our runners Tuesday May 14th in the morning from 7:50 a.m.-8:20 a.m. in the big gym. Have your parent drop you off just like if we were having practice. If you have reached 100 miles you will receive your medal then. There will be certificates and a treat for all participants! We look forward to celebrating a great year of running/walking with you!

Thunder Valley will be hosting our Unified Basketball Game on May 6th at 3:45 p.m.
Folklore Club
The Folklore Club will be performing after school on May 10th starting at 4:15 p.m. Students will stay after school so that they can get ready for their performance.
Late Starts for the School Year:
May 1st
School starts at 11:05 am, the earliest students can be dropped off is 10:50 am. Buses pick up 2.5 hours later than their normal pick-up time.

STEM NIGHT & STUDENT DESIGN GUILD
Hello and welcome to the 2024 Student Design Guild! On Tuesday, May 7 the Innovation Center is hosting a STEM Night for all SVVSD families and is geared toward students in preschool – 5th grade, although any age is welcome! At this event, we will have several great events for families!
- STEM Stations for children to explore- coding, building, making, creating and more
- The Mobile Lab introducing its newest program- Music Innovation
- Student Design Guild, a place for students to share and showcase their prototypes of solutions for problems they want to solve. See this flier for details, or to participate.
- Rosie, and her new cousin, Chaco, visit from the The Butterfly Pavilion
- Activities run by IC teachers and high school students in the STEM fields of aeronautics, robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, biosciences, entrepreneurship, video production, and cybersecurity.

We’re searching for students who are risk-takers, thinkers, curious, persistent, and creative to come learn with us! Problem-solving, computational thinking, coding, robots and more!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Celebrate your child’s birthday by joining the Birthday Book Club and donating a book to the school library in their name! Each child who participates will have their name inscribed on a bookplate on the front endpaper of the donated book. We will take a picture of the birthday child holding their donated book and they will get the first chance to check it out.
Registration Open for Elementary Project Launch
Academic proficiency is an important district goal for elementary students. Research shows that extended school-year learning opportunities positively impact student success.
Project Launch Program Includes:
- Targeted literacy practice daily
- Content literacy in science and social studies
- Focused math study and exploration
- Transportation is provided for those who qualify from predetermined bus stops
- Breakfast and lunch provided
- Exiting Kindergarten – 4th Grade Students
- Available at no cost to families

Community Schools K-5 Registration for 2024-2025 Opens Next Week
Community Schools offers dynamic extended learning day opportunities for children in grades K-5. Students are provided with a nurturing environment before- and after-school that fosters academic achievement, community, social-emotional growth, and creativity. Availability is limited and interested families are encouraged to register early and select their anticipated days of care immediately.
Learn More About the Registration Process
Parents/guardians shall be required to furnish an explanation for student absenteeism either in writing or orally. Absences not explained within two days after returning to school shall be recorded as unexcused absences unless unusual or extenuating circumstances exist as determined by the building administrator. After 10 excused or unexcused absences, a doctor’s note is required. Communication is key to successful attendance.
