Happy Thursday Raptor Families,

What a great week. As a reminder we do not have school tomorrow. Enjoy the long weekend! Next week, on Wednesday, May 1st, we have our final PLC/Late Start. School starts at 11:05 am, with dropoff beginning at 10:50 am.

We have a busy week at Thunder Valley. Our Unified Basketball team has a game at Soaring Heights PK8 on Monday, April 29th. Our middle school soccer team has their final game at Mead Middle School on Monday, April 29th. On Thursday, May 2nd, the Orchestra and Mariachi have their final concert at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. Finally, please join us for our first TVK8 talent show put on by our PTA and STUCO on Friday, May 3rd at 5:30 pm. Door number two is our Fine Arts and Athletics entrance and will be open 30 minutes prior to the events.

2024 Proposed Bond Initiative:

At the recent PTA meeting, we discussed the 2024 Proposed Bond Initiative that will be on the ballot this November. This initiative aims to support the growing Tri town community and enhance our schools while maintaining the current tax rate. For more information or if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

School starts at 11:05 am, the earliest students can be dropped off is 10:50 am. Buses pick up 2.5 hours later than their normal pick-up time.

100 Mile Club Since 1993

We will be moving practices outside to the track starting April 22nd!!!! Our last practice is coming up May 9th! Try to push yourselves to get as many miles as you can between now and then. 

We will do an end of the year celebration for our runners Tuesday May 14th in the morning from 7:50 a.m.-8:20 a.m. in the big gym. Have your parent drop you off just like if we were having practice. If you have reached 100 miles you will receive your medal then. There will be certificates and a treat for all participants! We look forward to celebrating a great year of running/walking with you!

Cheer on our Unified Basketball Players

We will have our first game on April 29th at Soaring Heights at 3:45 p.m.

Thunder Valley will be hosting our Unified Basketball Game on May 6th at 3:45 p.m.


Folklore Club

The Folklore Club will be performing after school on May 10th starting at 4:15 p.m. Students will stay after school so that they can get ready for their performance.

STEM NIGHT & STUDENT DESIGN GUILD

Hello and welcome to the 2024 Student Design Guild!   On Tuesday, May 7 the Innovation Center is hosting a STEM Night for all SVVSD families and is geared toward students in preschool – 5th grade, although any age is welcome!  At this event, we will have several great events for families! 

  • STEM Stations for children to explore- coding, building, making, creating and more
  • The Mobile Lab introducing its newest program- Music Innovation
  • Student Design Guild, a place for students to share and showcase their prototypes of solutions for problems they want to solve. See this flier for details, or to participate.
  • Rosie, and her new cousin, Chaco, visit from the The Butterfly Pavilion   
  • Activities run by IC teachers and high school students in the STEM fields of aeronautics, robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, biosciences, entrepreneurship, video production, and cybersecurity.

We’re searching for students who are risk-takers, thinkers, curious, persistent, and creative to come learn with us!  Problem-solving, computational thinking, coding, robots and more!

Thunder Valley Moving Notice

Parents/Guardians:

If your student/s are enrolled at Thunder Valley K-8 for the 2023-24 school year AND they are going to attend Thunder Valley K-8, you do NOT need to complete this form.

If your student/s are enrolled AND YOUR STUDENT/S IS MOVING/CHANGING SCHOOLS for the 2024-25 school year, please take one minute to complete this form so Mrs. Sites, Thunder Valley K-8 Registrar, can prepare your student/s’ school records and have them sent to your student/s’ new school in a timely fashion. Please complete the form for each student.


HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Celebrate your child’s birthday by joining the Birthday Book Club and donating a book to the school library in their name! Each child who participates will have their name inscribed on a bookplate on the front endpaper of the donated book. We will take a picture of the birthday child holding their donated book and they will get the first chance to check it out. 


Registration Open for Elementary Project Launch

Academic proficiency is an important district goal for elementary students. Research shows that extended school-year learning opportunities positively impact student success.

Project Launch Program Includes:

  • Targeted literacy practice daily
  • Content literacy in science and social studies
  • Focused math study and exploration
  • Transportation is provided for those who qualify from predetermined bus stops
  • Breakfast and lunch provided
  • Exiting Kindergarten – 4th Grade Students
  • Available at no cost to families

Attendance all 16 days is critical

We will close individual grade levels when full.

Space is limited! To register, please contact your school or teacher for a registration form, and return your completed form to either your child’s teacher, or the school office. There is no online registration format. You will be notified if your child is placed on a waitlist for this program.

Community Schools K-5 Registration for 2024-2025 Opens Next Week

Community Schools offers dynamic extended learning day opportunities for children in grades K-5. Students are provided with a nurturing environment before- and after-school that fosters academic achievement, community, social-emotional growth, and creativity. Availability is limited and interested families are encouraged to register early and select their anticipated days of care immediately.

Parents/guardians shall be required to furnish an explanation for student absenteeism either in writing or orally. Absences not explained within two days after returning to school shall be recorded as unexcused absences unless unusual or extenuating circumstances exist as determined by the building administrator. After 10 excused or unexcused absences, a doctor’s note is required. Communication is key to successful attendance. Lost & Found

As a reminder, please have your student check lost and found for any lost items. Lost and Found items will be donated on the last day of school, May 23rd.
