Mr. Zach Brake is the Director of Instrumental Music at Thunder Valley K-8 School, where he teaches middle school band, orchestra and jazz ensemble.
Mr. Brake earned a Bachelor of Music Education with highest honors and a Certificate in Music Technology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. While at CU, he studied euphonium and tuba with Professor Mike Dunn, trombone with Professor Bill Stanley and conducting with Dr. Matthew Roeder. Mr. Brake is currently pursuing a summer and online Master of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley.
Mr. Brake is a current member of the Colorado Bandmaster’s Association (CBA) and regularly attends the Colorado Music Educator Association Conference, the Colorado American String Teacher’s Association Conference as well as the CBA Conference. In 2015, he founded the Guerrilla Fanfare Brass Band, an active group in the front range with which he currently performs, manages and directs. Guerrilla Fanfare won the 2018 Westword Music Award in the “Brass Band” category. When he is not teaching or performing, Mr. Brake enjoys yoga, casual gaming, cooking, and writing & practicing music. Mr. Brake feels fortunate to educate at Thunder Valley K-8 School, and is an enthusiastic member of the tri-town community.
